If you join our coffee breaks, you might well meet Allan. He’s the startup guy who works in his Own Room but is always happy to have a cozy chat over coffee.
”I’m Allan and I’m the CEO of a small startup company called Apiable. We’re kind of small but growing. I have an own room at Mesta where I can make sales calls and call with investors in private. So that’s why I’m here.
Apiable provides an API portal as a service. It sounds complicated, but it’s not that complicated. We help organizations join the API economy, meaning that if they have valuable data we help them to monetize it and to get more customers and partners.”
”How did I end up at Mesta? I think it was a Google Maps search for coworking spaces near me. Herttoniemi is a good hub for me, and it’s just a 10-15 minute bike ride from home. So that’s how I found it.
I save like 40 minutes a day in commute time, compared to where I used to work before. That’s probably the biggest thing. In terms of how Mesta has changed my day, it’s about having structure. I do work from home as well, but having a place where I come to – where I arrive at a set time and leave at a set time, go for a lunch break – it adds, shall we say, normality to my day. When I’m at home, I do the washing and, you know, there’s a whole many distractions. But at Mesta it’s a working environment for me.”

Allan moved from our coworking side to an Own Room almost a year ago. So I asked if the move was worth it?
”The key thing for me is knowing that whatever meeting comes up, I have that private space and I can just talk. At this point in the company’s life, or probably forever, I’ll be the guy who talks to everybody, so I talk a lot. I do a lot of conferences, all day conferences. So I have the luxury of a space where I can just have peace and make calls whenever I need to. And it’s cozy, right. That’s the nice thing.
Mesta is a homely place, comfortable, with great people. You want to come to a place where you can talk to people over a coffee and have a little bit of fun as well. It’s got everything you need.”
